The Pharmaceuticals & Pharmaceutical Manufacturing division delivers cutting-edge, innovative solutions aimed at addressing a spectrum of medical needs, from acute illnesses to chronic conditions. Furthermore, they provide the right nutrition for life and special disease conditions.

The Pharmaceuticals Unit has built strong ties with globally established pharmaceutical brands to supply a wide range of pharmaceutical products to serve the healthcare needs of Sri Lankans.

CIC’s pharmaceutical manufacturing plant (CIC Life Sciences) in Welisara produces and supplies premium quality, affordable pharmaceutical products to the local market. CIC Life Sciences is one of the few NMRA (National Medicine Regulatory Authority)-approved pharmaceutical manufacturers in Sri Lanka.

New molecules developed by the local manufacturing arm captured a significant share of private and state sector markets. The state- of-the-art pharmaceutical facility, which manufactures both tablets and capsules, has been GMP-certified from its inception.

Understanding the long-felt needs of Sri Lanka, the pharmaceuticals department continues to support corporate social responsibilities, further to uplift the quality of life of Sri Lankans.

Specifically, CIC's pharmaceutics department launched a series of public healthcare awareness programs on combating diabetes, menopause, IVF, general nutrition, mental health, and obesity via physical and digital platforms in partnership with leading physicians and leading financial institutions.

Furthermore, the SBU signed up MOU with the Nutrition Society of Sri Lanka for the formulation and dissemination of the child nutrition guidelines for young children between 5 and 10 years old in Sri Lanka.
